SUNDAY November 4th, 2012 - "Archaeology Walk and Talk at Catoctin Creek Nature Center" 2:00 pm -3:00 pm Catoctin Creek Nature Center
All around us is evidence of past cultures and historic lifeways. Come to Catoctin Creek Nature Center and learn how archaeologists conduct surveys to find evidence of these people who lived in our area long ago. A look at the park landscape will follow a brief talk about the methods used and some examples of finds from the region. Artifacts from local historic and prehistoric sites will be on hand to examine. Senior archaeologist Michael Clem holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology from American University, and received his Bachelor’s degree in Humanities from Georgetown University. He has worked as an archaeologist for some 15 years, primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region, but has worked in the American southwest and in Argentina. Until recently he served as the Loudoun County, Virginia Archaeologist. He and his family live nearby in Brunswick.
